Speech and Drama Examinations 8 - 25 years

These popular examination classes are an excellent way for students to advance their communication skills, build their self-confidence and refine their performance technique. They provide students with a framework in which their talent can grow, whilst encouraging an appreciation of literature and drama at the same time.

Students will receive specialist tuition as they work over a ten-week term towards their examination. They will be required to demonstrate a variety of skills through one or more pieces which will be learned for performance on the exam day.

Students can take examinations in:

  • Verse and Prose
  • Public Speaking
  • Acting
  • Devised Performance
  • Mime
  • Musical Theatre (new for 2007)

Examinations are set by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, who have been providing speech and drama examinations since 1880. LAMDA is the largest speech and drama awarding body in the United Kingdom.

There are a variety of grades, medals and qualifications that students can choose from, depending on age and experience. These will be determined with the tutor during the first weeks of the term.

LAMDA examinations are accredited by the Qualification and Curriculum Authority, and are recognised by the Learning and Skills Council and Local Education Authorities.
